Hello everyone! My name is Jiwoo Lee, currently a (BHCS) school representative of the FSI Global High School Union.

A few months ago, I joined FSI-GHSU as a high school student who has North Korean Heritage and as a granddaughter of a North Korean refugee.
My grandparents are from North Korea; they were raised and got married in North Korea but they were separated during Korean War and my grandmother had to come alone to South Korea with her kids (my dad and uncles).
My grandmother, also my parents, missed and looked for my grandfather throughout her life and believed that my grandfather was alive in North Korea.
As she got older and weaker, she desperately wanted to find my grandfather even more than before. She asked me and my parents on her deathbed to find my grandfather someday.
Even though I would not be able to find my grandfather in North Korea at this point, I wanted to grant my grandmother's wishes by supporting her heritage and values.
From then on, I started to deeply think about what I can do for North Korean refugees like my grandmother and feel a strong sense of duty.
I began to consider what I could do right now as a high school student. And I concluded that getting interested/raising awareness about North Korean refugees' issues and making use of my skills or talents to help and support North Korean refugees would be helpful.

And yes, I wanted to take some more actions to give direct help to North Korean refugees by not only joining the FSI-GHSU but also making my own independent fundraise outside.
In the process of taking action, I launched a shopping mall <I’m in> for North Korean refugees living in South Korea who are going through economic or educational difficulties in this society.
In <I'm in> Shopping Mall, I am selling many small products such as mini-bags, hairbands, earrings, mask straps, bracelets, etc.
Most of the products in the shopping mall are hand-made by me and all of the profits from the shopping mall will be directly donated to FSI-TNKR.

Additionally, I want to give special thanks to the FSI co-presidents (Eunkoo Lee and Casey Lartigue) who gave opportunities to teenagers to lead these projects in supporting North Korean refugees with what we have.
