Running 4 Resettlement-Michael Williams

Hi!

I will be participating in the Seoul marathon in June to raise money for North Korean refugees through Running 4 Resettlement. R4R aims to raise money and awareness for North Korean defectors living in China who are seeking to come to South Korea. The Chinese government does not recognize them as refugees but as economic migrants, and therefore if caught by the authorities, they are sent back to North Korea where they will be tortured, imprisoned, and in some cases killed.

The issue of North Korean human rights is an important one, and those of us not living in such difficult circumstances often take for granted what it means to be free and have the ability to do many of the things that we enjoy doing. Therefore, I hope that you will be willing to make a donation, no matter whether large or small, to help this vital cause and give hope to the thousands of North Korean defectors in China who are seeking a better life and the basic dignity that goes with it.
