About This Fundraiser
Hello! Greetings from the volunteers at the Seoul Hana Center. Every Tuesday, we work with a group of North Korean defector students and help them out with English tutoring and English conversation practice, and we're fundraising as a group for Running 4 Resettlement! One of our teachers, Deborah Ok, is running as our representative in the Kim Dae Jung Peace Marathon on June 12th!
Running 4 Resettlement is a super amazing fundraising project that seeks to give North Koreans in China safe passage to South Korea. Many North Korean defectors face issues of human trafficking, repatriation, and political persecution on their harrowing journey, and these funds will directly help them in their sojourn. Please consider donating to help support this cause - we appreciate all of your support!
*4/28/2016 Update: Whoa, we've almost reached our goal! Which is great! But please consider donating regardless. It costs about $2,500 to ensure safe passage of one refugee from China to South Korea, so every dollar counts!
*5/2/16 Update: We've reached our original goal of $500, so now w'ere trying for more! Thanks to everyone who donated - we appreciate your support! <3
Runners for R4R register to run in the Kim Dae-Jung Peace Marathon in Seoul on June 12, while committing to fundraise for Citizens' Alliance for North Korean Human Rights (NKHR) Rescue Fund. Our goal is to raise $20,000 total to help 8 North Koreans safely reach South Korea from China, where they face human rights abuses.
