About This Fundraiser
(Hello!) friends, family, and Fulbrighters! Cheers from Changwon!
Although you all (hopefully) know I'm currently teaching English in South Korea, few know about a rewarding side project that I'm working on with other teachers. I am honored to teach the children of North Korean Defectors - some of the most briliant, under-resourced students I've met. And I teach at a science high school! Once a week we play games and get a little extra language boost outside of school. Two favorite smiley (read: adult teeth just coming in) students have had the greatest impact on me, really humanizing the North Korean nuclear news cycle we Americans are all to prone to receive.
I've got a special request for you. I'm running a half marathon and hoping to raise awareness (and donations!) to help students like the ones I teach reach a freer world. It costs about $3000 to safely help relocate North Korean defectors here in South Korea - $3k for a shot at a far brighter life - your donations will go an almost immeasurable distance.
Please shoot me an email - firstname.lastname@example.org, or email@example.com if you'd like to learn more!
Thanks for your generosity! Much love and cheers!

Runners for R4R register to run in the Kim Dae-Jung Peace Marathon in Seoul on June 12, while committing to fundraise for Citizens' Alliance for North Korean Human Rights (NKHR) Rescue Fund. Our goal is to raise $20,000 total to help 8 North Koreans safely reach South Korea from China, where they face human rights abuses.
