My name is Stone Davidson. Morgan, is my wife. We are childhood acquaintances, became friends, became sweethearts, and eventually life mates. Over the course of this past year, we both--in our unique way--felt God calling us to a life of service. Though we were preparing for our sophomore year of college, through prayer and discussion, we came to realize that we were being led to Ukraine as missionaries.
Ukraine is in the midst of an orphan crisis. There are many factors which have led to this crisis--including war, alcoholism, government corruption, and a weakened church. Consequently, there are a great number of orphans who age out of the system and face a life of prostitution, addiction, and crime. In Ukrainian society, these people are considered second class citizens. Our mission is to meet them where they are and show them the Hope that is only found in Christ.
Upon our arrival in Ukraine in January of 2017. we will have to hit the ground running. 1U Project has a variety of ministries in place, including two orphanage partnerships, additional orphanage outreach ministries, annual camps, and an IT education/housing opportunity for aged out orphans and at-risk young men. We will partner in those existing ministries--as well as begin the process of establishing a transition home for young people who have aged out of the system.
Our ministry--1Hope--will provide weekly Bible studies, life skill training, and nurturing relationships designed to mold these young people into productive members of Ukrainian society while leading them toward the eternal salvation offered by our Lord Jesus Christ. Ultimately--God willing-- we hope to provide a full-time residential home, dubbed Transformation House, where they can develop skills to independently tend to their own welfare and to the welfare of those living around them.
